6 Ways to Work Out While Getting Ready for Work

Sometimes it seems as if there are never enough hours in the day to get in a workout. What if we told you there were ways to work out while getting ready in the morning?

Check out these 6 genius moves to incorporate into your morning getting ready routines:


Stretch in the shower

The shower is the perfect time to stretch! The warm water will help your muscles to relax.

Squats while you brush your teeth

An effective exercise to work your butt and legs are squats. For squats, put the toilet seat down and sit up straight with your feet shoulder-width apart flat on the floor. Stand up and then squat back down as many times as you can while brushing your teeth. Or do squats free-standing, just be sure to get low enough!

Tone your triceps while your coffee or tea is brewing

Waiting for your tea to brew? Use your kitchen or dining room chair to do some easy tricep dips. Place your hands shoulder-width apart on the chair, slide your bottom off the front with your legs extended out in front of you. Straighten your arms, keeping a little bend in your elbows to keep tension on your triceps. Slowly bend your elbows to lower your body toward the floor until your elbows are at a 90-degree angle. Once you reach the bottom of the movement, press down into the chair to straighten your elbows returning to start. Do ten reps.

Calf raises while you look in the mirror

Next time you’re applying makeup, doing your hair or checking your outfit in the mirror, do some calf raises! Raise up onto your toes and lower down slowly. Do as many reps as you can to tone those calves.

Lunge on your way out

As you move about the house and get ready to leave, do some lunges down the hall and out the front door on your way to work.

Balance while you blow-dry

Stand on one leg for half the time you blow-dry and switch legs for the second half.  This promotes core stability, supports and challenges the spinal muscles and enhances good posture.
